It's a moment we often dread: stepping onto the scales and weighing ourselves! Weight gain or piling on the pounds: it's the same routine, but what will the outcome be? To step onto the scales without pointlessly panicking, follow these few simple tips to learn how to weigh yourself properly.
OFTEN, BUT NOT TOO MUCH
Is it really reasonable to weigh yourself several times a day? The answer is no!
Depending on your physical activity, your diet, your emotions or even your hormone cycles, your weight can vary between dawn and dusk. It is therefore pointless to weigh yourself too often. Leave your body weight time to find its balance: weigh yourself once a week, on the same day and at the same time, whether you simply want to check your weight or whether you're following a diet.
THE RIGHT TIME TO WEIGH YOURSELF
The basic rule: weigh yourself naked in the morning on an empty stomach, before breakfast or any other food or drink. Remember to go to the toilet before stepping onto the scales.
THE RIGHT POSITION ON THE SCALES
Step gently and smoothly onto your scales, placing your feet flat on each side.
Distribute your weight evenly between your two legs. Stand up straight while weighing yourself. Do not lower your chest forwards to look at the dial as you may risk changing the numbers.
THE SAME SET OF SCALES
There can be variations in the settings from one set of bathroom scales to another.
The information you see may be incorrect, making your weight monitoring unreliable. Make sure you always use the same set of scales to check your weight. Once the scales are set correctly, don't move them around!

Don't forget that a healthy and balanced diet helps you lose weight more slowly… but sustainably! Be patient to see the fruits of your labour appear as those extra pounds will be less likely to return.
